Sean Allison
Rythm Guitar / Bass Guitar (Honorary)(sean@blindboys.co.uk)
Sean is the Technical Director of Askaris, an Internet and Data Security company based in Dubai. He was previously the bassist and then rhythm guitarist for the Blind Boys, but now he is living it up in the sun. He is now an honorary member and does the odd gig when he is back in Blighty – if he can be bothered!
Previously living in Richmond, he started playing the bass guitar way back in 2005. Originally he bought a ’62 re-issue US Fender Stratocaster from his brother Mike, however he quickly learned that there was no way on earth he would ever be able to play it – mainly because his fingers were too fat. Sean then followed the logical progression of people with fat fingers and bought a bass guitar too. But as Sean's oversees work increased, and the Blind Boys gig diary evolved, Martin Johnson joined the band on vocals and bass, so Sean took up part-time rhythm.
Sean cut his teeth on the Richmond Sunday Night Jam Sessions where he quickly became proficient in anything that goes E A B (he is on target to learn where C is before the end of the year).
Once he reached his mid-life crisis, he spent many a weekend doing gigs and sometimes even getting paid for them but usually his financial gains were blown on two pints of Guinness and a doner kebab before he reached the M1. Now however, his midlife crisis shows no sign of abating having bought more guitars and a convertible and then disappeared off to the sun to live and work (allegedly).
His day job involves Internet and networks and data security in UAE and Oman – all a bit too geeky to discuss here!
